More vendors on in the regulatory compliance and records management niches. From CanadianLawyer InHouse, Vol. 1, April 2006 at 17, lists INSIDERdirect and Smart Link (from Bridgeway), RecordsManager (from Interwoven) and Board of Directors Portal (from OnX Enterprise Solutions). Law department intranet site (Honeywell). Corp. Counsel, Vol. 13, Dec. 2006 at 90 mentions that Honeywell’s legal Web site gets 320,000 hits per year. Among its tools are “contract forms, document repositories, patents, trademarks and all of the company’s executed contracts.” It also has a tool that allows engineers to easily input details of their inventions, which has been given credit for a 67 percent increase in the company’s patent applications from 2002 to 2005 (See my post of June 6, 2006 on the Honeywell law department’s productivity gains; and Dec. 21, 2005 with my doubts about the efficacy of intranets in law departments.).
Some law firms may use automated proposal generators. There are software packages that streamline the process of answering requests for proposal. Among them are Proposal Master and RFPMaster from the Sant Corp. and Proposal Generator by Thompson Elite’s Hubbard One (Law Tech.
