In the Financial Times, Aug. 11, 2005 at 7, an article cites research of two consultants at Marakon Associates. They concluded from their research that “companies typically realize only about 60 percent of their strategies’ potential.”
Setting aside my wonderment at how the Marakon consultants arrived at that average, I have a suspicion that their methodology would find the same shortfall with law department strategies, or even more of a gap, because law departments essentially react to the zigs and zags of their clients’ strategies. (See my post on Aug. 28, 2005 about SWOT analysis.)
